School Notices:

Cars arriving very early for pick up should NOT be idling in the driveway.  Please turn your car off and then turn it on when the line starts to move.  People are sitting in their cars from 2-3 p.m. and that’s a lot of exhaust!

If you need to pick up mid-day for doctor appointments, please arrange to do so before or after their lunch period.

Please do not drop off your child until 8:20 a.m. unless they are scheduled for a before-school activity.  We do not have supervision for children dropped off earlier.

BAGEL BREAKFAST….The Ridge Leadership Club is sponsoring our annual St. Patrick’s Day Bagel Breakfast, this year to benefit the Cambodia Club.  If your child wants to participate in this event next Tuesday, please send in the attached form with money by Thursday.  Thanks!  St Patrick Bagel Breakfast 2020.pdf

Friends of Music is accepting applications for its Young Musicians Showcase (actually, there are two:  an elementary division and a middle school division). This is an opportunity for younger musicians to perform as a solo act, or in a small group, in front of a supportive audience. Instrumental or vocal, any genre of music.  There is a simple form to fill out and a one-minute video audition of the piece the student will perform must be submitted.

Deadline for submissions is April 1.  The showcases will take place on Saturday, April 25 in the RHS Learning Commons; 12:00 for Elementary and 4:00 for Middle School.

The flyer is attached, and the application form is below that.  Students can also access the form on our website:  www.ridgewoodfriendsofmusic.org, under “Events”.

Health Office Notes:

Please remind your children to wash their hands (to the tune of Happy Birthday – twice!); sneeze and cough into their elbow; and please keep them home if they are not feeling well.   Following these simple things will keep illnesses to a minimum.

We have numerous cases of strep throat throughout the building, so if your child complains of a sore throat, with or without fever, please have them checked so we can contain the spread.  As a reminder, your child needs to be fever-free and on the antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.

5th Grade Parents:  Your child will need updated immunizations going into 6th grade.  Attached is a list of requirements for you to share with your doctor.  You may drop off updated immunization lists in my office prior to June 1st. 6th Grade Immunization 20-21.pdf

LEAVING?  If you know that your child(ren) will not be attending Ridge next year (either moving, going private, etc.) please let the office know as soon as possible.  Thanks!

A big thank you to the Ridge community for making our first Evening Science Fair a huge success! This year we had our highest level of participation—approximately 115 projects created by 175 students—and even more remarkable was the thoughtfulness, effort, and creativity that went into each one. Congratulations to our students on a job well done! Thank you to the families who supported their efforts and attended the Evening Science Fair. We had a great turnout and it was nice opportunity to showcase students’ work. Each student will receive a medal for participation.

Dozens of parents helped with this event and we thank you for your contributions—from donating supplies and baked goods to chaperoning class visits, manning interactive stations, setting up and cleaning up. Special thanks to Lauren Kupiec for organizing the bake sale and to the parents who demonstrated science experiments: Roopa Saggar, Caren Langheim, Alicia Malbin, Ji Kim, Jean Whitehead, and Jen Williams.

Thanks also to Dr. Schoenlank, Ms. Quinlan, Ms. Brunner, Mr. Jones and the custodial staff, and all the teachers for supporting the event.

We welcome any feedback and suggestions for next year!

--Tasneem Patrawala, Shulamit Gershenson, Sara Wilson, Hilary Wallace, Gocke Sezkin & Danielle Flynn
