School Notices

PARENT VISTING….instead of one “visiting day” as in years past, we invite parents to visit during grade-level events throughout the year.   Please read Dr. Schoenlank’s letter about when you may visit your child’s classroom: Parent visitation schedule.pdf

WISHING TREE IS UP!   We are once again supporting Children’s Aid & Family Services this holiday season.  Please take a tag, and return the unwrapped gift with the tag attached to the Ridge Office by December 5th.  Thanks in advance for your generosity in making this season special for those less fortunate.

HOLIDAY SHOW…..Please read Mrs. Pecorelli’s letter here about our annual Holiday Show:  2019 Holiday Show Letter.pdf

THANKSGIVING FOOD COLLECTION:  We are collecting food for the Ridgewood Social Services for this Thanksgiving – imagine, if every child brought in ONE can of food, we’d supply over 450 items!!  Thanks!

SPELLING & GEOGRAPHY BEES:  Please read Dr. Schoenlank’s letter inviting any interested 4th & 5th graders to participate in the two upcoming Bees:   Bees 2019.pdf

Book Character Day:  This year Dr. Schoenlank and Ms. Eng have decided to celebrate reading in different ways throughout the school year. We're excited to announce that January 17 will be Book Character Day! We will ask all of the students and teachers to dress up as their favorite book character and we have fun activities planned. We thought you might want to keep that in mind with Halloween coming up next week in case the costumes (or parts of the costumes) may overlap. More news will be coming about Book Character Day as the date approaches.

Please help!  You can help us in two easy ways:

1. Write your child's name in all sweatshirts and jackets.  Students' lost clothing is overflowing two large baskets! (It will also help greatly if they keep track of what they wear to school.)

2. Make a sign with your child's last name for red zone use, which is especially helpful on rainy/snowy days. You'd be amazed at how helpful it is to the volunteers. Thank you to those who have already done this!

HEALTH OFFICE NOTES

STREP THROAT, STOMACH BUGS and BACTERIAL PNEUMONIA…..we are seeing more and more of these throughout Ridge.  If your child complains of a sore throat and a stomach ache, or a persistent cough, please have them checked by a physician.
