AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

We have seen an uptick in strep throat, RSV, and Covid in the past week. If your child presents with cold symptoms, has a persistent cough, or complains of a sore throat, please have them evaluated by your doctor for any of the above illnesses before sending them to school so that we can prevent the spread.

RIDGE SPECIALS UPDATE

From the Media Center - We are gearing up for our One School, One Book celebration, which coincides with our author visit in March.  Hena Khan, a Pakistani-American author will be visiting with grades K-5.  She is the author of our One School, One Book, Zara's Rules for Record-Breaking Fun.

From the Ridge Art Studio - To develop a deeper understanding of Pakistani culture and to create a welcoming environment for Ms. Khan, students will be studying Islamic art during February art lessons. Ms. Stewart will be teaching various projects that involve the use of color, pattern, and shape in relation to Islamic art. For some projects, students will explore details of Islamic architecture, tile work, and Henna Mehndi designs.

From the Ridge Music Room - The second, third, and fourth graders are getting ready for their upcoming March concert!  In class, the second graders are learning about the Senoi Temiars from Malaysia, their music, and their usage of the rainstick.  The third graders are learning about the origins of the harp around the globe, while the fourth graders learn about the Shona people of Zimbabwe and their usage of the kalimba.  We are so excited to learn about these interesting and varied cultures while we get ready for our concerts!
